ONDŘEJ NEFF (writer; Czechia)
Guest's appearance:: Friday 11. April 2025
The nestor of Czech science fiction is undoubtedly Ondřej Neff - a well-known writer and journalist, publisher of the Internet magazines Invisible Dog and DigiNeff (about digital photography).
Ondřej Neff wrote his first science fiction when he was ten years old and has been a lifelong devotee of the genre. He prefers classic adventure hard sci-fi. Čarodějův učeň, Jádro pudla, Měsíc mého života, Něco je jinak, Hu!, Tma, Ostrov nesmrtelných and many others.
A lifelong fan of Jules Verne, he has retold ten of his novels for a new generation of readers. But he is also the author of a monograph on Jules Verne, a book on digital photography, and other non-fiction.
He lives near Prague. Under the influence of his wife, the actress Ljuba Krbova, he swapped karate for Chinese Tai Chi and rides an electric bike instead of a motorbike. He enjoys photography, walking his dogs in the woods and occasionally stopping by Comic-Con. He's celebrating his round 80th birthday this year, so if you want to wish him well and also find out what new things he's up to, he'll be looking forward to seeing you on Bookline on Friday.
