She graduated from the Faculty of Arts at Charles University. She collaborated on the creation of the play Dračí doupě (DnD). Her short stories have appeared in fanzines and literary competitions.Now she works from home as a translator from English.
She is a six-time winner of the SF&F&H Academy Award and numerous other awards, including the Karel Čapek Award and the Magnesia Litera.
Her main work is the short story and novel series Legendy argenitu. The books, at the intersection of science fiction and fantasy, chart the future history of Earth and star empires and follow the fates of people whose lives are interfered with by argenite, a remnant of ancient non-technical civilizations and a source of psychotronic energy.
These days, the final eighth volume of the Mycelium Saga: The Apocalypse Programme is out, this time in hardcover (Argo Publishing).
