Leoš Kyša (writer; Czechia)

Guest appearance: Fri 7.5., Sat 8.5.

Currently the best-selling writer of Czech fiction and one of the representatives of the so-called action school. He writes most of his books under the pseudonym František Kotleta. He is a popular author for his ability to write action, work with humour and the human dimension of his characters. His seminal series is Bratrstvo krve, where he presents readers with a great deal of hyperbole about the struggle between vampires and aliens for domination of planet Earth.

His most successful series is Spad, which, on the other hand, deals very civilly with the theme of a post-World War III world in whose ruins a group of aging Czech soldiers attempt to rebuild civilization. He has also written Perunova krev, Poutník z Mohameda, Undergound, a tetralogy about special detective Tomas Kosek, and currently two volumes of Černá smečka, Černá luna with demon hunter Filip Aksamit. As an editor and author, he has contributed to the anthologies Ve stínu Říše, Ve stínu apokalypsy, Ve stínu Magie. Together with Kristýna Sněgoňová, he is writing the Legie series of books.

Leoš Kyša is a former journalist, documentarist and university teacher. Under his own name, he first published Poutník z Mohameda, but more recently the distinctive novel Sudetenland. His latest work so far, Syndikát, will be published at the end of November.
