Filipe Andrade is a Portuguese multidisciplinary visual artist. He graduated in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon and later completed a postgraduate degree in Pre-Production for Cinema and Animation at the Gnomon School in Los Angeles, California. Having lived and worked in the United States, Hong Kong, and Italy, he is currently based in Lisbon, where he runs his studio.
From 2009 to 2019, Filipe collaborated extensively with Marvel, contributing to titles such as Captain Marvel, John Carter, Fantastic Four, Jessica Jones, Rocket Raccoon and Immortal Hulk.
He has also worked with Boom Studios!, Passion Studios, and Riot Games, as well as with the Lisbon-based theater company AUÉÉEÚ Teatro and artists such as Diogo Potes. Alongside major commissions, he continues to engage in independent and collaborative projects, both commissioned and self-initiated.
Filipe is the creator of three short comics — Walled City, Junction, and Solitude — published by the Lisbon-based collective TLS.
He is a Hugo Award winner for Cyberpunk 2077: Big City Dreams (written by Bartosz Sztybor and published by Dark Horse).
A multiple Eisner Award nominee, he is also a Ringo Award winner and recipient of the Prix Littéraire du Sud (France) for The Many Deaths of Laila Starr (written by Ram V), which has been published in 12 languages worldwide.
Most recently, he completed the project Rare Flavours and is currently developing new projects and collaborations scheduled for release in 2026.
